Throughout our time reviewing the best travel destinations and must-visit tourist spots in the world, we ran a small internal poll to put together a list of the ones that we love the most. Just 5 short months into 2022, the world continues to open up and we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to travel.
To help our friends find the destination that they love, we’ve put together some of the most interesting and unique destinations that we think our readers would love. We’ve covered nature, cities, wellness, and much more in our list and hope you enjoy it.
Sri Lanka is one of the most underrated travel destinations
For those who might not know, I actually grew up in Sri Lanka, so this one is a special choice for me. The one thing you need to know is that you cannot limit your stay to a single city or town, so be prepared to travel around and experience so much.
Pack light clothing, because the tropical climate, beautiful beaches, and incredible food of Sri Lanka must be enjoyed in flip flops and swimwear. These are just some of the many reasons to include the South Asian country on your travel wish list.
Some highlights to consider include:
- Beautiful beaches wherever you go, including Negombo beach, Arugam Bay and many more
- The famous wildlife like elephants, leopards, sloth bears and more, make safaris in the country an amazing and also affordable experience.
- Seafood is plentiful and as fresh can be, so be prepared for some of the freshest fish more often than not

Val d’Orcia, Italy offers you the chance to visit your desktop background
Val d’Orcia is a beautiful valley in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, which is often the inspiration and backdrop for any image online search for Italian countryside.
The UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia was the subject of many Renaissance paintings, especially by the painters of the Scuola Senese, The Siena School, mentioned in the Val d’ Orcia’s UNESCO nomination.
You won’t be bored in of the most underrated European travel destinations out there, with so much to do such as:
- There aremany thermal hot springs in the region, such as the ones in Bagno Vignoni or in Bagni di San Filippo
- Montepulciano is a stunning medieval town perched on top of a hill between Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana
- The amazing fortress at Radicofani that is steeped in centuries of amazing history.

Why isn’t Tasmania on everyone’s list of travel destinations?
It is no secret that we love Tasmania and is always on our list of best travel destinations for any month or year. As some of you may know, Tasmania is a unique and unusual island – with plenty of quirky stories, characters, and places to keep you company on your adventures.
The little island has everything a nature lover would need and also, offers amazing seafood, alcohol and wines, and so much more. In fact, we’re always surprised more people don’t visit Tasmania every year.
For things to do, look no further than the whole island!
- There are a lot of UNESCO World Heritage sites to visit like the Port Arthur Historic Site and the Coal Mines Historic Site on the Tasman Peninsula
- Wineries and distilleries galore, so be prepared to get a bit tipsy and organise wine and whiskey tours
- Have some of the freshest abalone at one of the largest harvesting grounds in the world

Now is the time to Bhutan on your list
It is likely you don’t even know what we’re talking about. This tiny country is only 38,394 square kilometres, which is the same size as some US states. With a focus on sustainability and ecotourism, the country is one of the least polluted countries in the world today where carbon emissions are negligible and there are one of the only countries or even areas that is carbon negative – they remove more carbon dioxide than they produce.
Besides being a eco-tourism haven, it is also a place to relax and free your mind from the stresses of the world. Besides relaxing, there are also quite a few things to see and do.
- Take amazing hikes around the beautiful countryside and scenic hills like Trashiyangtse and Taktsang Goemba
- Look for meaning at The Memorial Stupa and rediscover your true meaning
- Try white water rafting for some excitement as this natural wonderland has so much to offer for those visiting

Travel like a king or queen in Serbia
This country has a rich history, and the Serbian people are very friendly. Most of the things you can visit and explore in this country are actually free and open to the public.
This country is full of astonishing mountains, historical monuments, and delicious national dishes. What’s even more important, accommodation in Serbia is quite affordable. If you are staying in the capital city, called Belgrade, remember to visit Avala tower and a popular city fortress called Kalemegdan.
You will never run out of things to do in the country, which include:
- You can also visit the country’s north and explore some historic towns like Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci
- Most of the restaurants are cheap, and you can eat delicious meals prepared from organically produced ingredients.
- During winter, they also have some of the most affordable ski resorts in the world
