Crickets, cacao-free chocolate, and shawarma? Singapore’s Flavours of Tomorrow Festival wants you to take a bite

From April 25 to 27, Geneo at Singapore Science Park will turn into a smorgasbord of meat-free meals, sustainable shopping, and seriously inventive food. Back for its second edition, the Flavours of Tomorrow Festival is anything but your average foodie event. It’s part plant-based showcase, part food-tech playground—and yes, you’ll get a chance to snack on Tom Yum-flavoured crickets.

Is this for just locals? No of course, travellers can experience some of the most unique food experiences available in the country and likely most of Asia.

Here’s a taste of what’s in store for you when you visit Flavours of Tomorrow Festival.

Eat first, ask questions later

Expect over 10 plant-forward food booths from homegrown names like The Goodburger, Shandi Global, and Jammy’s Gelato. You’ll find vegan takes on everything from beef bowls to Italian gelato—plus a few wildcard entries like cacao-free chocolates and those protein-packed crickets from Insect Yumz.

While this isn’t for the faint of heart, it is also a great place to try alternative options and unique creations that might be the food of the future.

The idea is simple: swap out traditional staples for resource-efficient, alternative ingredients, without sacrificing flavour. Even familiar favourites like shawarma and braised pork rice get a makeover—with plants taking centre stage.

The marketplace gets a makeover

Beyond the food, the sustainable retail market will feature 20+ booths offering everything from mushroom grow kits to recycled fashion. It’s a showcase of how everyday consumption can get a conscious upgrade. Brands like Prefer Coffee (yes, beanless coffee) and Mireia (locally grown vanilla) stand out for their blend of innovation and practicality.

For those curious about turning surplus into surprise, check out MoonBeam’s upcycled ingredients and Mycosortia’s food-byproduct-to-cream-cheese alchemy.

Not just nibbles – there’s something to learn too

Whether you’re an eco-warrior or just alt-curious, the festival has something to feed your brain too. April 25 will spotlight industry talks led by BLOCK71 and Innovate360, with startup founders tackling topics like functional drinks and the circular economy in F&B.

Stick around for the weekend and catch live cooking demos by local chefs like Joyce from WakaMama and Schira Hassan, plus brand showcases for a deeper dive into the alt-food scene.

Food isn’t the only thing on the menu. Local acts like EH Bandits and NoonBeat will keep the vibes going with live music performances across the three-day festival. And if you need another reason to visit, there are giveaways: three lucky attendees will win a 3D2N stay at Citadines Science Park Singapore, and twenty more will score $200 Trip.com vouchers.
