1. Take a stroll in Perdana Botanical Gardens
Located in the heart of the city centre, the Perdana Botanical Gardens is Kuala Lumpur’s oldest and largest recreational park. Surrounded by lush greenery, this site is home to a vast collection of flora and quite a few unique plants like the bottle tree, cannonball tree and has plenty of walking paths for strolling around and jogging.
The park is best visited during the weekends where you can spot locals taking full advantage of this luscious gem.
2. Visit the Petronas Twin Towers
Built by Cesar Pelli & Associates, the Petronas Twin Towers are the world’s tallest twin structures and a signature landmark of Kuala Lumpur. Although the Twin Towers are home to the headquarters of Petronas and many other offices, these Islamic inspired structures provide an amazing opportunity to snap some great pictures.
Standing 88 storeys high, these skyscrapers have remained a hot spot for tourists and locals for decades.
3. Go for a hike in Taman Tugu

6. Volunteer at the Free Tree Society
Need things to do in KL this weekend? Spend some time volunteering at the Free Tree Society. Located in Bangsar and Taman Tugu, the Free Tree Society is a nonprofit environmental organisation that spreads the love of nature by collecting seeds, sprouting them and then giving those seedlings away in an effort to encourage green goals and objectives.
Not only can you meet fellow environmentalists but you may even be able to take a plant home with you.
7. Cycle at Bukit Tunku
Tired of driving around and getting stuck in traffic jams? Ditch your car and give cycling a shot! Nestled in the concrete jungle in Malaysia is where you’ll find Bukit Tunku. This is the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city while getting a good workout in.
Experience the thrill of cycling with this scenic route filled with lush greenery and sprawled with large estates.
8. Host a picnic at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre Park
Situated at the feet of Suria KLCC, this park is the perfect spot for a picnic with your friends or family.
Bring along some food, lay out your picnic mat and enjoy the best view of the Petronas Twin Towers and the beautiful Lake Symphony while creating memorable moments with your loved ones.
9. Grab a book at the KL Book Exchange
If reading is your thing, check out the KL Book Exchange. With the aim of reducing waste, this community was founded in 2014 and operates at the open parking lot at Wisma TM in Taman Desa. You can catch them every fourth Sunday of the month from 8.45 am to 10.45 am.
Interested in getting a book? Get it for free! All you have to do is bring a book in an acceptable condition and exchange it for another.
10. Check out the Art House Gallery Museum of Ethnic Arts
The Art House Gallery Museum of Ethnic Arts is a fascinating art gallery created by Mr Leonard Yiu. This gallery showcases intricate artwork and sculptures he has collected from over 20 years of travelling around in places like Sarawak, Sabah and Kalimantan.
Have you ever wanted to own a piece of art? Now’s your chance! There are artwork and sculptures displayed in this gallery that are also on sale. Drop by at 3.04 & 3.05, Level 2 of the Annexe Building at the Central Market, any time between 10.30 am and 6.00 pm to check this fantastic gallery out.
