With so much going on with travel and the general insanity of news, the world of online travel news media is noisy. It can be impossible to know what is trustworthy given the sheer volume of content out there.
However, at this time, it is more important than ever to have reliable travel news sources. From vaccine information, to travel regulation changes and more, we need to stay on top of the news. At the same time, we also have people who love travel news and websites for the inspiration and good practical knowledge they share, so we want to make they’re not forgotten.

We have listed down travel news sources and information that we think fits most people out there.
For up to date travel news
Getting the right news is tough and we have tried our best to collate some of the most trustworthy platforms out there for a global audience. If you are looking for local travel news from your part of the world, we might not be able to cover it, but this gives you a good starting point to see what the world is talking about when it comes to travel.
Let’s jump straight into it.
For global travel news
There are many travel news websites out there that provide decent coverage of what is going on. However, we only have so much time to spare, so most of us are looking for trusted and comprehensive resources.
That’s why we look at Skift and Phocuswire, both of whom cover the global travel industry. From news about the latest travel restrictions or reopenings in Japan to AirBnB’s latest regulatory issues, they have it all.
It is a good way to get a global sense of what is going on.
For travel advisory news
This one is tricky and we highly recommend you visit your local government resources for information. If you want a good global outlook, might I suggest checking out the World Tourism Organisation by the UN. They provide advisories for governments and regulators to consider.
To get your local advice and official statements, look for your own tourism board or local government news resource.
Tapping into the social media ecosystem
Surprisingly, I am going to suggest looking to social media for travel news that you might need. With the many confusing changes and updates happening almost hourly, timeliness is important to someone who has a flight to another country in the next 2 days.
This is where Facebook Groups like “Travelling in and out of Singapore“, which has over 27,000 members is a community-based news source that helps people keep track of travel updates in Singapore and also ask questions. Most countries will have communities like this, where information sharing through social media can be extremely helpful.
Again, it is essential to note that this does not mean everything you read is true, but using common sense should be enough to make sure you get the right information at the right time.
