Swim underneath waterfalls in Lampang City
Up north, past Chiang Mai is the charming city of Lampang. While the city is not a common tourist destination, it boasts some of the best nature experiences in Thailand.
This rustic city still uses horse and carriage for transport, but don’t worry, you can definitely find a more modern form of transport if you so wish.
One of the main reasons that Lampang is a hidden gem is the Chae Son National Park. This spot offers a great place to hike, as well as a number of beautiful waterfalls, where you can take a dip. If that’s not enough, relax at some of the park’s hot springs amongst a jungle backdrop.

Experience history in Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai
Immerse yourself in culture when you visit Thailand’s former capital city from the 13th-14th century. Commonly known as Thailand’s Golden Age, the ruins of Sukhothai offer a glimpse into the splendour of Thailand’s rich and diverse history.
Classed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a magnificent feat of human accomplishment when you realise how long these ruins have been here.
Though technically a popular tourist destination, the sheer size of Sukhothai offers you a chance to feel almost completely alone as you travel through Thailand’s past.
Just a short day trip away north of Sukhotha, is Si Satchanalai. This medieval city offers an even more exclusive experience for visitors, as it is not as popular as Sukhotha, but is still an important part of the local history.

Examine the intricacies of Thailand’s only silver temple in Chiang Mai
Located down a side street right near Wualai, Chiang Mai’s famous Saturday night market, is one of the most unique temples in Thailand.
Founded in 1501, Wat Srisuphan is Thailand’s only silver temple. This is right in the midst of the silver-making district of Chiang Mai, it is hard to miss as the temple shimmers in the sunlight.
One of the most impressive and surprising aspects of the temple is the intricacy of the workmanship in the temple. Each panel of this building tells a story of Thailand’s history and culture.
A lot of the credit should go to the new renovations, which utilised the skill of the local silversmith community to create a truly awe-inspiring spectacle. This will prove a much different experience to the other magnificent temples in Thailand and is a must-visit if you’re ever in Chiang Mai.
